Be True To Your Heart

These photographs were taken at my college, which I will start attending on September fourth. As I sat in the lobby, waiting for my friend to arrive, fear awoke. I'm starting college. I felt as if I was a child again, preparing for the first day of kindergarden. Fear, excitement, and curiosity stirred within me, every corner of the building a new adventure. Do I join a club? A sports team? The krav maga class? Will I make friends or enemies? Will I get good grades? Will my professors like me? Hush, quiet brain. This is nothing new, but rather just a new chapter in the same novel. You will be fine. You always are.

Officially an Adult

These photographs were taken last week. It was my twentieth birthday and my mother and I went to Le Cafe at the National Arts Center. It's one of the fancier restaurants in town, sitting on the water front allowing for a beautiful view throughout dinner. The night started with champagne and Cosmopolitans, continued with cheese and tomato salad, thirty day marinated steak, and ended with the most delicious creme brulee and darjeeling tea I have ever tasted. People ask me if being twenty feels any different than being nineteen, and I would have to say no. However, I'm starting school in a couple weeks, I'm working full-time and I'm being more social than I have in the past year. I don't know if it has anything to do with age, or if everything is just falling into place, but things are definitely going well.

To Live Cautiously Is To Not Live At All

This outfit is from a few weeks ago. If you couldn't tell already, I'm fairly smitten of clothing that resembles pyjamas. I tried to release my inner Man Repeller, though mine seems fairly tame considering I simply mixed two not-so-bold prints.
I'm preparing my birthday night post, which will consist of way too many photographs of food, lace, and empty cocktail glasses.

Multi-colour

After far too long an absence, I have finally returned to the blogging world. My laptop was under repairs (as said numerous times on Twitter) but now it's back and the laptop, myself and this blog are back in full swing.
These images were taken this evening at a birthday dinner for my sister and I. Two days ago, I turned twenty years old, which means I am officially an adult. I won't lie, it doesn't feel much different than being nineteen, though I have been thinking about a retirement fund. Too soon?

Buy a Boutique

Buyaboutique.com is a platform on the internet in which carries a lot of beautiful and unique jewelry pieces. Never heard of it? What you never heard of doesn't mean the greatness isn't beneath it. Buyaboutique.com is an innovative concept in which consumers are able to purchase items in sets. Sets are simply a collection of matching pieces, so it saves you time from finding something to match with. Not only does it save you time, but it also saves you money because when you purchase a set, the total price is significantly less than purchasing the pieces individually. Another unique feature of buyaboutique.com is that it incorporates pieces that were worn by celebrities, such as Kim Kardashian, minus the cost. How awesome is that?

If you use the promo code "STAY20," you can receive 10% off your entire order. Gorgeous jewellery at reasonable prices plus a promotional percentage saved? Sounds pretty good in my books.

When the Sun Sets, I Become Alive

These photographs were taken this past weekend just outside my town. There is nothing better than getting away for a few hours to a remote location, drinking some screw drivers and working on your tan on a boat while reading Vogue, am I right? I also recently purchased a BCBGMaxAzria dress that I've had my eyes on for months now (and for 1/3 the original price) and I can't wait to show you all.

Birthday Wishlist

My twentieth birthday is in exactly ten days and, as I'm coming into my young adult life, these are the gifts I will be purchasing for myself (if my bank account will allow for it). I believe that each year we get older, we learn new things, become wiser, more intelligent, more compassionate. Here's to another year of growing.

Should You Adopt the Latest Craze?

When you’re a kid, bugging your parents to let you take part in the latest trend is part of the culture.
The utter outrage at their refusal to relent can still be keenly felt. It’s surely not that unacceptable to
harangue your parents for a horse or to gnaw at their resolve until you’re given a guitar?

The world of our childhood must have been littered with discarded drum kits and rejected recorders,
a scrapheap of ballet shoes and dumped slap bracelets. Tony Hart caused a rise in the sales of
sketchpads, being single-handedly responsible for a generation of young people desperate to see
their artwork grace his gallery.

How many mothers and fathers have muttered muffled expletives as they made their way down to
the bottom of the garden to feed the rejected rabbit, whose position in the popularity ranking was
so easily replaced by a Rubik’s Cube?

So how many of us have taken this tendency for fleeting fads with us into adulthood? The start of
a New Year is always the best time to announce the adoption of a new pursuit or hobby. Not only
do you have every intention of getting the body of an athlete but you’ll also be signing up for a
new sport and taking classes in something suitably self-improving. There’s obviously the objective
of learning a new language and also the aspiration of acquiring an artisan skill. How much would a
potter’s wheel set you back? A kiln must be fairly costly?

Do you have the tendency to accumulate the accoutrements before establishing whether you
actually enjoy your new activity?

Of course, it’s easy to mock an individual’s enthusiasm and aspirations and we all know someone
whose interests change like the weather and who’s always embarking on the next best thing. Yet it’s
no good being smug and superior from the sofa. Staying-power may be a laudable quality but so too
is the ability to have a stab at something new and decide it’s not for you.

That being said, there are still times when fads and crazes can be a worthwhile pursuit and a wise
investment. Those who first adopted the classic styles of Fred Perry, for example, will now be sat
viewing their wardrobe with pride. The trick is working out which fad is worthwhile and which is not.
